Yaohui received BS degree in applied physics from Anhui University in 1992, MS degree in condensed matter physics from in University of Science and Technology of China in 1995 and Ph.D degree in electromagnetic field and microwave technology from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2000.
During 2000-2002, he was a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs Research China, where he worked on design and development of distributed intelligent optical networking protocols. From 2001 to 2002, he was transferred to Bell Labs headquarter in US, where he engaged in design and development of user network interface for Optical Network Navigator, which is the control software for Lucent all optical switch Wavestar Lambda Router. Subsequently, he won the Bell Labs President Golden Award with the team.
In Oct. 2002, he joined the State Key Lab of Advanced Optical Communication Systems and Networks, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. At the end of 2002, he was promoted to Full Professor. From Apr. to May 2006, he was visiting professor in Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse, France supported by Duo France program. From Jan. 2007 to Dec. 2009, he was Director Assistant of the State Key Lab. In Jan. 2010, he joined the Network Information Center, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, as Deputy Director.
His research focuses on triple play convergence, future internet evolution, data center network, and network data mining. He was PI and co-PI for more than 10 projects supported by government. He published more than 100 technical papers in leading conferences and journals. He held 7 Chinese patents. He served as technical program member in many international conferences, including OFC and ECOC. He served TPC co-chair of HPSR 2008, public co-chair of ANTS 2007, local co-chair of ACP 2009, subcommittee co-chair of ACP 2010, General co-chiar of IEEE Infocom High speed network workshop, subcommittee co-chair of IEEE COIN/PS 2011.
